I know that this video was posted a long time ago but I can't help but ask what ruching is? How do you do it? It is something you have to do by hand or can you use a machine. If anyone has any idea please let me know.
Great episode. inspired me a lot for a costume I'm making for Halloween.
But how do you do the ruching? You didn't explain in the video. :(
Is there a link to it?
But otherwise, it helped a lot. Thanks for the corset links! I've been looking for the right one for the longest time! :D

Hey you guys just turned me on to steampunking, thanks! lol, I like the vest of Steven Nelson (I think thats his name) but I cant tell it dosn't look like gears sewed on his vest but a tatterned imprint? what excatly is it?
i don't know if this helps at all, but if anyone is interested in similar period pieces, The Ladies Treasury has great true historical patterns. and for free too!
if i could make a request for a new video...the Renaissance fair is coming here soon. I absolutely love the clothing there but..eek so expensive. Well, i've been thrift store shopping so much that everything seems that way. But if you could go a little farther back in time and teach me how to make renaissance clothing such as bodices, chemises, corsets *and substitutes for boning*, and maybe throw in some guy stuff there too, it'd be the most awesome thing ever!!! plz consider.
Yeah, that's a great idea!! You could even make your own Halloween costume! I've been looking all over the net for patterns, but I've hardly found anything useful.
Awsome, now. for your next month long feature (preferably also a joint effort with Indy mogul bfx..):
Cyberpunk... It would be soooo rad. =)
I wonder if cleaning my desk with a leather jacket and a hot glue gun would do it... =P
Now that we are all dressed up, how do we find other like minded individuals to hang out with? It's a lot of trouble to go to just to traipse around my apt.
This is such a great intricate episode and fashion! no wonder there was a whole week dedicated to steampunk. well worth the wait. and i love corinne's outfit! nice job!
Hey guys umm i was watching this video and corrine metioned rooshing (sp?) umm i was wondering if you could explain what it is and how to do it?
thanks -Jocy
Well,I think it's basically sewing a straight line across the fabric and then pulling the thread,so that the fabric gets ''rushed up'' and creates that ruffly effect.Hope that helps you a bit!!
I think the actual site for the corsets is laracorsets.com In the video it just had laracorset.com which is some random website. Loved the video thanks guys!
WOW! Love this episode. The bustle (and the layered skirts) are soo cute!!! Also, love the corset information. The real corset look seems so elegantly old fashioned... but, well, ouch!!
awesome episode!!!
Hi there. I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana. I have evacuated due to hurricane Gustav. I wanted to thank you guys and gals here at Threadbanger. You have the coolest DIY projects and how to's I have ever come across. It's kept my mind occupied and my hands busy making things!!
i know i already commented but i had a brain explossion (i cleaned it up tho) i cant get a big corset and stuff but u can alter the vest pattern in to a corset if you put some thought into it any way just a usless idea hope it helps. and ive watched this about 8 times sinice i firts watched and commented lol really good job
I truly enjoyed these episodes but I do have to say that Rob's shirt reminded me very much of the HUGE trend of shirts in the 80's. Would have been cool to know that I could have made my own back then!
this episode was awsome its funny i like alot of styles but i never know the name of them till i watch a shop like this and by that time im like 'dam fashion stalkers taking the way i dress' lol. but hey i take all thoes styles and mix them im very alternate just like you corinne your so cool ive been wearing bloomers for years im a bigger girl and bike pants under skirts sometimes is a big granny like. also Andichan i second the gothic lolita love the loli just wish it looked better on bigger ppl....
Thanks for this episode guys! It was so creative and both outfits turned out great! If you ever decide to do another "underground fashion" type episode, gothic lolita would be a really cool theme.
Wow, even though I'm not steampunk in the slightest, this was my favorite threadbanger episode ever! The explanations and information were so interesting and inspiring. That bustle was beyond amazing. A total work of art! And I might just use Rob's shirt recon to peacoatify a jacket of mine... Thanks guys great job. (Oh and Corinne does have a great booty ;D )
Great tutorials! I love the men's shirt idea - simple but effective. And I want to try those rouched skirts (I love layering skirts when it gets cold out). Fantastic work!
The funny thing is, i just finished putting together my steampunk ensemble. I made a vest. I bought a top-hat, a pocket-watch, and goggles. Im doing it for the first day of school. Will send pictures.
Awesome tutorials.I've been looking for a good tutorial on making that ruched top for a while now. Don't forget to add some cotton button up fingerless gloves, button up spats, and patterned tights (stripes, lattice etc.) for ladies. Men can also add some higher waisted side-button pants, boots, and lots of random gadgetry and a hat if you're not going for the super messy hair look.
corrinne, the outfit was beautiful, i especially love the ruched skirts, that gives me inspiration to make a everyday skirt with that look! the steampunk look is very cool and pretty even tho its not the kind of style i'd wear every day thanks you guys for a GREAT episode
That Was My New Favorite Episode.
Also I had no clue what Steam-Punk was till now But the hole idea of it appeals to me so much!
Great Episode!
And Even On thread banger , Steve Nelson Steals the show, Lol!
I thought his powers only extended to the mogulverse!
Can't wait to see What's next!
I say a Suit!

Thanks, this is just the coolest thing! Long live steampunk.

Hey,
Ruching is where it looks all pulled together. it's made with elastic string
Great episode. inspired me a lot for a costume I'm making for Halloween.
But how do you do the ruching? You didn't explain in the video. :(
